Legends Michael Ballack and Luis Figo split on Mario Gotze

Mario Gotze has failed to live up to his prospective says Michael Ballack, but the Borussia Dortmund midfielder has discovered an ally within the fantastic Luis Figo.

Gotze rose via the ranks at Dortmund and won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, before departing in acrimonious circumstances for rivals Bayern Munich in 2013.
He seemingly had the planet at his feet when scoring the winning objective in Germany’s 2014 World Cup final win more than Argentina, but Gotze struggled for playing time at the Allianz Arena under Pep Guardiola and saw his profession stall.
A close-season return to Dortmund followed, but as yet Gotze has failed to hit the heights that saw him impress a lot in the course of his initial spell at Signal Iduna Park and he has just a single objective in nine league starts this term.
Gotze was absent as Dortmund lost their Champions League last-16 first-leg tie at Benfica through injury on Tuesday, and former Bayern midfielder Ballack questioned whether he has the fight to rediscover his best form.
“When I see Mario Gotze, his development doesn’t go inside the proper path,” Ballack told Sport Bild.
“He has outstanding qualities, but he has not reached his possible for what ever purpose.
“His charisma just isn’t so excellent, fellow players, coaches, fans along with the media usually do not really feel that he’s fighting against his existing predicament. He’s far more an introvert player.”
Even so, in a separate interview with Bild, Portugal and Actual Madrid legend Figo mentioned Gotze is at present Germany’s best talent.
“Gotze is the best German footballer,” he said. “He has such an outstanding talent, he can just do anything around the ball.
“I contemplate him to be a player with fairly extraordinary abilities, I like him extremely much.”
